SL RNA gene primers will also discriminate the subgenus Viannia from both cutaneous and visceral groups of subgenus Leishmania.

Happy choosing between primer sets,

These genes are expected to be absent in the Leishmania subgenus, producing no PCR products. Such negative findings however may not be as good as something positive in both groups, but different between them.

We are not sure if they are really L. infantum or Viannia. Does anybody has observed the same thing?
