I agree with Dr Jeffrey Shaw. By Western blotting we detect antibodies in the majority of cases of cutaneous leishmaniasis.

The accepted idea of no antibodies in cutaneous leishamaniasis is incorrect. They definitely do occur in some but not all cases. However, they may be missed if the wrong antigen is used. The greatest chance of detecting them is to use the homologous antigen.
