We agree with Dr. Marty, by Western blotting we detect antibodies in patients with cutaneous leishmaniasis.

We have used sera from CL patients caused by either L. major or L. tropica and sera from VL patients and tested the sera against L. major and L. tropica and L. donovani, cross reaction exist but overall the titer is very low. All the best Ali

The accepted idea of no antibodies in cutaneous leishamaniasis is incorrect. They definitely do occur in some but not all cases. However, they may be missed if the wrong antigen is used. The greatest chance of detecting them is to use the homologous antigen.
