Dear Colleague,

I am searching for motivated individuals to fill 2 post-doctoral positions
that I have the resources to fund. The positions are at New York University
Medical School in the Department of Medical and Molecular Parasitology,
located in Manhattan. Their research will focus on human Trypanosome Lytic
Factors (TLFs). These factors are 2 novel forms of high-density
lipoprotein particles that kill T. b. brucei, the bovine infective
subspecies of African trypanosomes. The human infective subspecies, T. b.
rhodesiense and T. b. gambiense are refractory to these lytic factors.

For relevant references see :

characterisation of a novel trypanosome lytic factor in human serum.

The goal of one position will be to clone a novel Trypanosome receptor that
mediates killing by TLFs. Desirable skills include library construction,
and library screening by low-stringency methods or antibodies.

The other position will focus on the role of TLFs in the development of
atherosclerosis. Familiarity with lipoproteins and their metabolism is a
big plus.

Interested candidates should send their CV and the names of 3 references to

Thanks for your time.
Sincerely,
