[Leish-l] L. infantum in the hindgut?

Dear Jorge,

Thanks for your interesting observation. I just called Ivete Mendonça
asking about your point of adherence to gut wall. She says promastigotes
were not adhered to the hindgut. So, possibly you hit the point. After I
mentioned your hypothesis she thinks it is plausible, since she clearly see
them adhered to the midgut but never to the hindgut and rectal ampulla.

This is in accordance to the observations that kDNA of Leishmania from dogs
in Teresina and from two sand flies fed on dogs all were L. infantum (see
Alonso et al, 2012, attached).

Any way, it may be wiser to go through more samples from sandflies to
confirm this hypothesis.
