Prof. Aluísio Prata died yesterday at the age 91. He made important contributions to Tropical Medicine, specially to the study of Chagas disease, leishmaniasis and malaria. Many Brazilian scientists were educated with him.

A strong clinical background, coupled with honesty, intelligence, objectivity, obstinacy and dedication to the diseases that hit neglected people were his hallmark. 

Brazil lost one of its greatest scientists.
