Dear clinical leishmaniacs

Re: HIV/L.donovani coinfection - VL in patients already established on
antiretrovirals:

Could anyone tell me if they have personal experience of using
pentavalent antimonials (with its frequent drug-induced pancreatitis) in
combination with anti-retrovirals specificallylamivudine/stavudine/nevirapine)
and whether pancreatitis occurred or not?

My dilemma is whether it is better to stop ARVs for the 30 days of
sodium stibogluconate therapy, or continue ARVs.

Sadly this is in a resource-poor area where no alternative antileishmanials are
currently avialable, and I am not sure whether alternative ARVs are available
either.
