Subject: [leish-l] Training on Visceral Leishmaniasis to Medical
Officers

Dear sirs,
With the help of USAID/EHP and CECI/Canada, we are preparing a training
package on Visceral Leishmaniasis (Kala-azar). At present, there is no any
training curriculum (Learner's guide/Tutor's Guide) in Nepal. As you might
be aware that Visceral Leishmaniasis (Kala-azar) and Post Kala-azar Dermal
Leishmaniasis is becoming a major public health problem and public panic in
the eastern region of Nepal (14 districts). Therefore, your help in the
following area will make the training program successful and qualitative.
Please send details about following through mail/express delivery:
1. Epidemiology of VL
2. Rationale and techniques of VL Control
3. Epidemic preparedness and control
4. Survellance and Monitoring/ Follow-up/Referral
5. Life cycle, morphology, anatomy and physiology/entomological studies of
vectors
6. Life cycle and morphology

Your,s sincerely,
Raj Kumar Pokharel
