Dear All,
A few years ago, WHO and London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine
organized a meeting and produced an information package with slides and
training material on various aspects of VL control. It would be very
useful for the group to contact Dr Philippe Desjeux at
(desjeuxp at who.ch), get him involved and benefit from his expert input
and his extensive resource material.
Would love to have a copy when it is produced.

Subject:	[leish-l] Training on Visceral Leishmaniasis to Medical
Officers

Dear sirs,
With the help of USAID/EHP and CECI/Canada, we are preparing a training
package on Visceral Leishmaniasis (Kala-azar). At present, there is no
any
training curriculum (Learner's guide/Tutor's Guide) in Nepal. As you
might
be aware that Visceral Leishmaniasis (Kala-azar) and Post Kala-azar
Dermal
Leishmaniasis is becoming a major public health problem and public panic
in
the eastern region of Nepal (14 districts). Therefore, your help in the
following area will make the training program successful and
qualitative.
Please send details about following through mail/express delivery:
1. Epidemiology of VL
2. Rationale and techniques of VL Control
3. Epidemic preparedness and control
4. Survellance and Monitoring/ Follow-up/Referral
5. Life cycle, morphology, anatomy and physiology/entomological studies
of
vectors
6. Life cycle and morphology

Your,s sincerely,
Raj Kumar Pokharel
