I am interested in locating a colony of L. longipalpis. I am involved in an
experiment on the transmission of visceral leish. which requires a large number
of sandflies. I am working with a labortory in Belo Horizonte. In the
past the laboratory has been able to obtain large numbers of L. longipaplis
from Lapinha cave near Belo Horizonte. Of late, however the sandflies have
been a mixture of L. Longipalpis and other species. (This is of course
very interesting in and of itself because for decades L. longipalpis has
predominated this site. About 90% of sandflies retrieved were L. longipalpis.)
While this mixture of sandflies species is interestesting, it has made
it difficult to obtain large numbers of L. longipalpis. Does anyone
know where I might be able to find a colony of L. longipalpis, preferably
in Brazil?

Thanks,
Kelly Michelson
