Dear Collegues,
It is sad for me to hear this news. Professor Killick Kendrick was a good friend of Institut Pasteur (we wrote under his guidance several grants that helped to make a real positive change in the Institute. For me, he a special person because he was my mentor during my PhD training at Oxford university , I am looking to his report as an examiner of my thesis and his signature dated 15 oct 1999. I will certainly never forget his support and friendship.

Jeff,

I appreciate you taking the time to let us know about Professor Killick Kendrick's death. Wish I was writing to you for a different reason; this is a major loss to the Leishmaniac community. He was a very special person in many ways. Many will miss him and his critical thinking.

Best regards, Max

Jeff,
What sad news for those who knew him, respected him and appreciated him as the great scientist he was.
Is there any chance of getting Mereille's mailing or e-mail address?
Thanks

Jorge Arias

Thank you Jeffrey.

Certainly, one of the icons left us, Bob Killick-Kendrick . However, he has been so fundamental in the history of us all that work in the field of leishmaniais thatI we all will remember him for many years.

And man lives if people remember him!

I have the very sad task to inform everybody that last night (22/10/2011) Bob Killick-Kendrick died. Leishmaniasis has lost one of its icons and the breadth and depth of Bob´s comments on-line and at meetings based on years of experience is a terrible loss to us all. Bob´s career spanned many areas of parasitology. He worked on trypanosomiasis in Nigeria with David Godfrey and on returning to England dedicated many years to malaria, in particular rodent malaria. He travelled extensively on field projects all over the world and together with Prof Rioux was seminal in understanding the ecology of leishmaniasis in the Southern France where lived.

Leish-L welcomes your comments and anecdotes on Bob´s life so please send them.
