Good point,
I'm not Indian by a long stretch but I would add my 2 ct to the discussion. I believe Kala Azar is fine to use in everyday language. It is, after all the colloquial name for the disease. We say 'malaria', too, which is Latin for 'bad air', even though the air has nothing to do with it. Wouldn't you hate 'Vascular Plasmodiosis' to replace 'malaria'?
Greetings

> Kala-azar is the traditional name for the disease on the Indian subcontinent. Kala means black in HIndi; azar is said to mean fever in Assamese. Some say that black refers to the change in skin colour, some that it refers to the dreadful nature of the epidemic disease, as in the Black Death in Europe.
