I can help you in terms of putting in touch with right people.  My name is Syamal Raychaudhuri and I work for a company called Inbios International.  We have a serological test for VL.  However for leish DNA testing with soldiers from the Army, you need to contact Dr. Alan Magill of WRAIR.

Can you recommend a place for DNA testing of leishmaniasis.
My husband has this from Iraq, six years, and we still do not have the
species indentified.
It evolves around the reconstruction of his leg and has diffused to
the healthy part of his leg.
We have a prescription for DNA testing.
We are in Florida.
