OPEN POSITION IN PARASITOLOGY, UNIVERSITY OF SAO PAULO SCHOOL OF MEDICINE

Dear friends,

I write to you in the hopes of making this information available to the
largest possible number of people who may be interested in a career in
Parasitology at the Univ. of Sao Paulo Medical School in Ribeirao Preto. I
thought that you may know (or you may have met) people, Brazilians OR NOT,
who have been or currently are in post-doctoral training in any area of
parasitology in Brazil or abroad, and who may be interested in coming to our
institution.
This is a tenured position as ‘Professor Doctor‘ (equivalent to the U.S.
Assistant Professor) in Parasitology, at the Department of Cell and Molecular
Biology, part of the Basic Sciences of the University of Sao Paulo School of
Medicine, Ribeirao Preto, SP, Brazil. As per the oficial announcement
(attached), the person should have a PhD in any of the areas compatible with
Parasitology and must be active in research in Parasitology. There are no pre-

selected people, nor is this announcement just a law requirement to back up
any in-house applicants, but rather a TRUE SEARCH for a good parasitologist,
engaged in research in any of the sub-areas of the field. An M.D. degree IS
NOT required. The announcement (‘Edital’) is attached to this message, and
also available at the link
http://www.fmrp.usp.br/novo_portal/index.php?
option=com_wrapper&Itemid=102

I think this is a good opportunity for people currently in post-doctoral
training abroad to come back to Brazil with a good perspective of active
research/teaching engagement. But obviously Brazilians who are doing
training/working within Brazil and foreigners who may be interested in living
in Brazil (Ribeirao Preto is a good place to live!) are welcome as well.

IF YOU HAPPEN TO know a possible applicant, or someone who knows an
applicant, please, forward this message!

Do not hesitate to contact me if needed.

Best regards to all of you,

Eurico Arruda
