Dear sir,
this paper could also be useful:
BRAVO,L.; L. A. FRANK & K. A. BRENNEMAN 1993 Canine leishmaniasis in
the United States. Comp. Contin. Educ. Pract. Veter., 15(5):699-708.
Many Brazilian people has worked on leishmaniasis in dogs, usually on
visceral leishmaniasis. You did not explain what kind of leishmaniasis the
referred dogs are suffering.
Check for dog and leishmaniasis and (perhaps) United States in:

Best wishes
