Postings on Leish-L of VL outbreaks in man or dogs are important since they
help keep track of the spread of the disease.
VL cases have been reported in Foxhounds from a kennel in New York State.

I have received a request for testing dogs for _Leishmania_. Apparently
several dog shows in Pennsylvania are being cancelled because of a fear of
transmission of Leishmaniasis at the dog shows. I have seen no evidence of
any outbreaks in the United States. The person calling our laboratory said
she would forward the information she received from her kennel club to me.
Has anyone else seen this information?
