Consequences of canine vaccination, visceral leishmaniasis?

If I remember correctly, one of the Brazilian participants in the recent
discussion on this site mentioned that vaccination of dogs against
visceral leishmaniasis has been shown to prevent clinical disease (in
dogs) but permits subclinical infection, which might establish a carrier
state that might be quite difficult to detect. We have a reference
suggesting enhanced susceptibility to VL after vaccination, but not of
subclinical infection. I would appreciate it very much if any member of
the list might send me the pertinent reference(s) to suppressed disease
but active infection after vaccination--New World as well as Old World.
Thanks!
