canine leish. therapy

I'm certainly no expert, but my dog was diagnosed with visceral Leishmaniasis in 
June of 1995. He is a 75 pound German Shepherd and has been taking 300 mg of 
Allopurinol twice daily for over 10 consecutive months. Currently he is 
asymptomatic. I've been working with a Canadian veterinarian who feels she has 
"cured" six Huskies by oral treatment with allopurinol. If not a cure, it 
certainly has bought my dog some real "quality" time.   Debra Quaka
