Professor of the Department of Epidemiology, School of Public Health,
University of Sao Paulo, an incredible human being, always with the
door open for anybody!
With his good-natured and cheerful way he was a committed and dedicated researcher.
He was among the first to engage in the bio-ecology of sand flies,
when he started in the Vale do Ribeira, São Paulo,
and was the first to embrace applied research at the service. He
participated many times in technical advisory services in the
Working Groups of the Department of Health Institutional Estado of Sao
Paulo. Always helpful and committed when requested, providing
significant contributions to the service.
Almério leaves us 92 full papers published in journals and 52
papers published in scientific meetings. Besides having trained 16
MScs and 8 Phds, helped with production techniques,
participation in stalls, lectures, conferences, among others.
As Head of the Department of Epidemiology, School of Public Health
built and left a legacy of new knowledge, renewed the Medical
Entomology Laboratory, and at the time of his death he was an advisor to the Ministry
of Health, the Program Monitoring and Control of Dengue.
We will miss his laughter and his friendship,
