September 1991, Bob is standing up just beside David Molyneux. Anyone could
note that Bob, at ISOPS 7, in <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Turkey</st1:place></st1:country-region>,
in April 2011, 20 years later, was looking exactly the same. He made a fantastic
presentation (a keynote lecture) on “Twenty years of ISOPS: sandfly
science and reminiscences”!! Impressive performance!<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

organize an Expert Committee on The Control of The Leishmaniases (TRS 793
published in 1990). I remember Bob being fully committed before, during and
after the meeting, a superb collaboration. Again, the most impressive point is
that, in 2010, during the Expert Committee, organized by Jorge Alvar, he has
been, after more than 20 years, exactly the same, highly proactive, bringing
perfectly updated information to feed the discussions and being passionately
involved not only in entomology but also in many other topics. It again
perfectly illustrates the scientific dimension of Bob, his determination, his
scientific rigor. <o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

have the very sad task to inform everybody that last night (22/10/2011) Bob
Killick-Kendrick died. Leishmaniasis has lost one of its icons and the breadth
and depth of Bobīs comments on-line and at meetings based on years of
experience is a terrible loss to us all. Bobīs career spanned many areas of
parasitology. He worked on trypanosomiasis in <st1:country-region w:st="on">Nigeria</st1:country-region>
with David Godfrey and on returning to <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place
w:st="on">England</st1:place></st1:country-region> dedicated many years to
malaria, in particular rodent malaria. He travelled extensively on field
projects all over the world and together with Prof Rioux was seminal in
understanding the ecology of leishmaniasis in the <st1:place w:st="on">Southern
France</st1:place> where lived.</span></font></span><font size=2
