The Photo Library exists to provide access to the collections of the = Wellcome Library and to it's collections of biomedical images that have = been gathered from teaching hospitals, practitioners and research labs = in order to provide a balance of historical and contemporary material = and better reflect the work of the Trust as a whole. All our = contributors have a contract with us and recieve a royalty each time one = of their images is published in any medium by any of our clients who = range from the academic publisher paying very low license fees to the = mass media publishers who pay the full market rate. They do not receive = a royalty for use of their images in teaching or private study as our = only charge for this service is to cover some of our materials costs. = We do not charge for photographing the rare and fragile materials in the = Wellcome Library, if an academic requires a powerpoint file they are = charged =A32.50 per file as they would be for an image already on our = database. The reason we make a materials cost charge for such usage is that, if we = make no charge, we are unable to resource the service with limited staff = numbers and budgets. We are currently developing a service whereby we will be able to allow = direct download of unwatermarked files for powerpoint presentation use = by academics, there will be no charge for this service and our system = will automatically report on usage so that we can track it with no = resourcing issues for us or our users. If any of your members would = like to participate in the testing of this function, please contact me = and I will activate the function for you if you would first register on = our website. I would be delighted to provide any further information that might be of = some use to you either as a user or as a contributor of images. We look forward to being of service.
