It is sad to inform that Professor Maria Dora Feliciangeli passed away
yesterday 15 of november, in Maracay, Aragua state, Venezuela. Dora was a
pillar of entomoloy in our country and latin america, an extraordinary
human being that was involved in so many projects during her life.  i would
like to hiligth this excerpt taken from he venezuelan parasitological
society:

"For many years, she has been the national and global ambassador for vector
studies related to the transmission of tropical parasites, with special
emphasis on Leishmaniosis, malaria, and Chagas disease, reflected in a
wealth of works published in high impact journals. Likewise, Dr.
Feliciangeli had in her hands the coordination of multiple projects at a
strategic level in relation to parasites transmitted by vectors, of
importance in public health. She also performed a praiseworthy work as
editor in chief of the Bulletin of Malariology and Environmental Health of
MPPS (Founded by Dr. Arnoldo Gabald?n). He also held positions in the
presidency of the Venezuelan Parasitological Society. There are innumerable
contributions in teaching and research that we receive from Dr.
Feliciangeli who leaves a rich and extensive legacy that supports studies
in entomology and Venezuelan parasitology for future generations."
Dora was a dear friend  who closely work with us in the canine visceral
leishmaniasis  projects held in margarita island. and helped to reduced the
incidence of the disease.

My deepest sympathy to her family ,coworkers, students and close friends

Dear all,
I greatly regreat this.
   I have followed and admired her work since the 1970s, when she worked
with Jorge Rabinovich on life tables of Triatomine bugs.
  She was a very kind person, and we had much contact by post and internet,
and I only met her once, in Worldleish at Pernambuco.
   She made a great contribution to medical entomology, and, as I
communicated her recently, the third edition of "Entomologia M?dica e
Veterin?ria" will be dedicated to her. She told me she was very grateful
for this.

Siento mucho la perdida de la Dra. Dora!
Dora ?s un orgullo de la entomologia de Am?rica . Su contribuci?n y dedicaci?n a la ciencia, sendo referencia ?nica a la identidad de los vectores, a l? ense?anza y al control de enfermedades hace con que nuestra entomologia sufra mucho por su ausencia. Que descanse con la seguridad y tranquilidad de los grandes cient?ficos de nuestro  tempo!
