[leish-l] Clocks revisited

There has been a lot of discussion as to whether or not molecular clocks 
are reliable. A major part of the problem seems to rest with what molecule 
you use. Last year Jamie Stevens drew attention (Trends Parasitol 18,479) 
to a paper by Gaunt and Miles (Gaunt MW, Miles MA. 2002. Mol.Biol.Evol.19, 
748-761) that suggests that a reliable global clock for insects 
is  cytochrome oxidase I. It will be interesting to see this applied to 
sand flies.
