The LV in Belo Horizonte started in 1994. The prevalence rate in dogs
has been ranged from 2% to 5% since 1992. We've been study the LV in
Belo Horizonte (MG) since 1994 and in  our study we found strong
evidence that human cases occur in areas where prevalence rate in dogs
were high 6 months before the human cases. Besides that, the healthy
local Services sprayed more than 50,000 houses per year with
insecticides. In spite of the control  measure the cases are increasing
in adults, probably many of them  are HIV seropositve.
