Once again, I think it's at least as important to work out how to export this colony material legally and fairly, to ensure that the genetic patrimony of a country isn't exploited. Sand flies aren't as attractive as hyacinthine macaws but their genes might be a lot more lucrative. At the risk of sounding like a heretic, I wish there was more interest in studying the behaviour of these and other medically important insects in nature - too much "field work" simply involves collecting material to set up a colony or process in a lab. The information you suggest is already included in the database. I have not yet distributed the database but will do so as soon as I feel the information is relatively complete. Thank you for the information you sent regarding your colonies. Have you had any luck controlling the mites. The easiest way that I have found is to aspirate the mites from the oviposition jars when removing the dead females, before the eggs have hatched. Rodriguez Delfin (Doc. This region is an endemic area of Leishamania and infectious disease others (as malaria, dengue, etc). Each year, most of 100 cases of patients with moderate and severe lesions by Leishamaniosis are diagnostic and treatment in Institute of Tropical Medicine and Infectology, where the Dr. Hernan Miranda is direct and conduct an medical, biology and nurse group. The identification of parasite is by direct analysis for staining and culture. This diagnostic is not adequate for species identification, the morphological similar of species and wide spectrun of the lesions by other etiological agents limited this results. Recently, was create of Molecular Biology laboratory for the identification of the species of Leishmania (Vianna) in patient, vectors and reservoirs. We want to know if you this interested in collaborating with the institute in the identification of the species of leishmania by markers of DNA. I would be extremely gratefully should you sent information about respect Or group interested in collaborating with ours study Yours sincerely ............................................................
