Dear Jacques

Yes, the plant exists in Bolivia and Perou and is used by Indians Chimanes
living in tropical forest of "Alto Beni" in Bolivia, to cure cutaneous
leishmaniasis lesions. The plant has been comprehensively studied by a
Bolivian/French team at IBBA, La Paz, Bolivia. In vitro and in vivo assays were
carried out. The chemical structure is well known. For any complementary
information please contact the "Institut pour la Recherche et Développement"
(IRD), ex ORSTOM, 213 Rue Lafayette, 75480 Paris Cedex 10, France. Fax: (0033) 1

Best personal regards.

Dear colleagues,

This is a request for information regarding a potential
anti-leishmanial agent isolated from the plant Galipea longiflora
(Eventa) said to be relatively common in the Peruvian forest.
Apparently, a new drug called "chimanine", obtained from this plant,
has been patented by the "Coopératrion française"

Has anyone any further information regarding this product ? Does it
exist ? Is it actually being tested ? Are the results available ?

Thanks for your help.
