Host cells of L. hertigi

Does anybody know which cell type L. hertigi infects in Coendu spp., 
particularly in the dermis. I understand that these parasites are quite 
difficult to find in the porcupine, so the histology may not be well known.
So although L. hertigi will infect mouse peritoneal macrophages in vitro
I am not sure from the descriptions of Herrer or of Lainson and Shaw 
whether they infect macrophages in the porcupine.
